Real & Meal for June 15, 2009: "Life in Occupied Palestine"

The documentary "Life in Occupied Palestine: Eyewitness Stories and Photos," will be shown at the New Deal Cafe on Monday, June 15 beginning at 7:00 pm. There is no charge for admission to the film. An optional vegan meal will be served starting at 6:30 pm and will cost $13.00.
The film is the work of Anna Baltzer, a Jewish- American Fulbright scholar. It presents evidence she gathered, as a volunteer for theInternational Women's Peace Service, of human rights abuses in theWest Bank. She also reports on the ideas of both Palestinian andIsraeli activists supporting nonviolent resistance to the Israelioccupation. Guest speaker will be Jim Fine, foreign policy analyst forthe Friends Committee on National Legislation, He has traveledextensively in the Middle East and gained three decades of first-handexperience with leaders throughout the region.
Reel & Meal is a monthly film series exploring vitalenvironmental and social issues, sponsored by several local progressivegrassroots organizations. This month's event was planned by the Peace& Justice Coalition, Prince George's County.
